'5,000 people stopped at the booth' is not a measurement. It's a wave count. If your post-event report leads with foot traffic, your CFO has already stopped reading.
The seven metrics worth tracking: meaningful conversations (30+ seconds), opt-in capture rate, sample-to-trial conversion (via unique codes), media impressions earned (UGC + press), repeat visit rate (for multi-day events), staff utilization (% of shift hours spent in active conversation vs. idle), and post-event 30-day brand-search lift in target markets.
Geotagged photos are an underrated metric. A campaign that delivers 800 GPS-tagged photos of real consumers holding the product, in the right environments, is a content asset that the social and DTC teams can use for months. We hand them back to brands in shared drives organized by market within 48 hours of campaign close.
The hardest metric is the one most worth tracking: brand-search lift. Run a baseline of branded search volume in your target DMAs for the four weeks pre-campaign, then measure the +30 day window. A well-run activation moves branded search 8 to 25% in market. A poorly run one doesn't move anything.
